Purchasing Agent
In this role, you will provide support to departments with specific responsibility for implementing purchasing activities in compliance with mandated requirements, oversee daily activities, respond to a range of inquiries regarding the purchase process, and achieve agency objectives and goals within budget.
Requirements
· High School Diploma required, Associates Degree preferred.
· Minimum five (5) years purchasing experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
· Experience with electronic procurement software applications.
· Ability to plan and manage multiple projects.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Excellent customer service skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships.
· Utilize purchasing industry best practices.
Essential Functions
· Administer bidding processes and contracts for vendor performance and compliance within established limits including preparation of specifications, issuing purchase orders, etc. for the purpose of securing goods and/ or services within budget and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Compiles data from a wide variety of sources including vendors, staff, public agencies, etc., for the purpose of analyzing issues, ensuring compliance with a wide variety of purchasing policies and procedures.
· Researches contracts, suppliers, equipment, and regulations, including evaluating vendors for the purpose of determining their capability for performing to established specifications.
· Negotiates with vendors for the purpose of obtaining the most advantageous terms and conditions, resolving purchasing issues, and/ or ensuring purchases are within agency requirements.
· Maintains purchasing information, files, and records for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines.
· Stays current by participating in educational opportunities.
