Business Banking Officer

JOB FUNCTION:
Business Banking Officers (BBOs) are responsible for creating, retaining and expanding banking relationships with micro to small-sized commercial companies, professionals, and associations (revenues up to $2,500,000 and loan relationship size not to exceed $500,000) by identifying financial needs while offering tailored banking solutions to help grow their businesses/organizations. This role requires a self-starter with a strong knowledge of business banking products, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to building and maintaining client relationships through dynamic networking skills with various types of centers of influence inside and outside the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the growth of the BBO’s deposit, loan and banking base by attracting, retaining, and expanding micro to small-sized commercial relationships using a consultative process.
- Manage the loan process, from origination through approval and closing.
- Monitor loan portfolio to ensure compliance with loan agreements and address any credit risk concerns, exceptions and past dues.
- Provide a high level of customer service by being responsive to client inquiries, resolving issues quickly, working closely with internal teams to resolve any service or operational issues that may arise and ensuring a timely, positive banking experience.
- Conduct regular reviews of client portfolios to ensure financial needs are met and identify opportunities for growth.
- Self-motivated to drive performance through strong individual sales skills and proactively seeking new business clients through networking, referrals and prospecting.
- Work with bank partners to include Commercial Lenders, Private Banking, Banking Centers, Wealth Management, Mortgage Lending, Insurance, Trust and Treasury Management to help increase the overall income of the bank by providing a unified approach for services to customers.
- Ensure business activities are conducted in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- Represent Jefferson Bank by actively participating in networking including chambers of commerce, community events and business organizations in the communities we serve.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Work Experience
- 3 or more years managing business relationships with strong knowledge of business banking products, complicated business structures, business and consumer loan production, treasury management and merchant services
- Proven track record in managing client relationships and driving business growth.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess financial statements and creditworthiness.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and compliance requirements.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to provide excellent relationship management and business development/sales skills
Supervisory Experience
- No supervisory experience required.
Education/Skills
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a combination of High School/GED and work experience.

- Ability to connect and network with business owners and leaders.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in managing customer relationships
- Proven organizational skills with ability to multi-task and follow assigned tasks through completion

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to speak and hear to communicate with others
- Must be able to sit at workstation while looking at a computer for extended periods of time
- Must have reliable transportation and able to travel to make calls in Bank’s market and surrounding areas
- Must be able to lift, push and pull files up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and be mobile within office environment.
- Must be able to see computer screen to read and type on the keyboard.
Equipment/Machines/Software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint); Adobe experience preferred.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Position Includes Driving
- Driving is an essential function of the position. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
