About the Role:

The Director of Security is a senior leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive security strategies to protect the organization's physical and digital assets across all United States operations. This role ensures the safety of employees, facilities, and information by managing risk assessments, security policies, and incident response protocols. The Director of Security collaborates with executive leadership to align security initiatives with business objectives while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and industry standards. This position leads a multidisciplinary security team, fostering a culture of vigilance and continuous improvement in security practices. Ultimately, the Director of Security serves as the organization's primary authority on all security matters, driving proactive measures to mitigate threats and respond effectively to security incidents.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret with SCI/SAP eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminal Justice, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in security management, including leadership roles.
  • Certified/trained FSO or equivalent professional security certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and Department of Defense/War security requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DODM5105.21 (SCI Security Manual), DODM5205.07 (SAP Security Manual), and ICD-705 (Tech Specs for Construction and Management of SCIFs)
  • Proven experience with personnel security clearance processes/procedures along with familiarity with personnel security programs of record (DISS, SCINet, NISS, and JADE)
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
  • Experience working within a defense contractor or government agency environment
  • Strong knowledge of physical security systems, cybersecurity principles, and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to security and privacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Security Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or similar.
  • Experience as a Contractor SAP Security Officer (CSSO) or Government SAP Security Officer (GSSO)
  • Experience managing security operations in a large, multi-site organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex security projects.
  • Experience with advanced security technologies including surveillance systems, access control, and threat intelligence platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security policies, procedures, and protocols to safeguard company assets and personnel.
  • Lead and manage the security team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation to ensure high standards of security operations.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and security audits to identify vulnerabilities and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external agencies to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and industry security requirements.
  • Oversee incident response planning and investigation of security breaches, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
  • Manage security budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships to optimize resources and technology deployment.
  • Provide regular security briefings and reports to executive leadership and stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging security threats, technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the organization's security posture.

The Director of Security utilizes strong leadership and communication skills daily to guide and motivate the security team and collaborate with other departments. Analytical skills are essential for conducting thorough risk assessments and interpreting security data to inform decision-making. Technical proficiency in both physical and cybersecurity tools enable effective oversight of security infrastructure and incident response. Strategic thinking is applied to develop long-term security plans that align with organizational goals and adapt to evolving threats. Additionally, negotiation and vendor management skills are important for securing contracts and partnerships that enhance the organization's security capabilities.
