Our Plaistow, New Hampshire facility specializes in high-mix, lower-volume complex electromechanical manufacturing, subassemblies, full-system integration, and box-build assemblies for customers primarily within the Commercial Aerospace, Defense, and Instrumentation & Control industries. The site supports defense contractors and OEMs with products and systems used in applications such as airborne surveillance, missile fire control, shipboard power and communications, power distribution, automated controls, and semiconductor equipment.
The Plaistow facility operates under rigorous quality and regulatory requirements including AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, ITAR registration, NIST 800-171, UL508A, J-STD-001 Class III soldering, and IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class III workmanship standards.
Why This Role Matters
The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring our manufacturing teams safely deliver high-quality, complex electromechanical assemblies and box-build systems that meet demanding customer, regulatory, and delivery requirements.
This is a hands-on floor leadership position responsible for coordinating people, production priorities, quality, and resources while developing employees and maintaining a strong culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Job Summary
The Production Supervisor oversees the daily activities of assigned production teams at our Plaistow manufacturing facility. This position leads Team Leads and production employees to ensure safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and customer commitments are consistently achieved.
The Supervisor coordinates staffing and resources based on production schedules, monitors operational performance, addresses production or quality issues, and ensures work is completed in accordance with company procedures, customer requirements, IPC workmanship standards, AS9100D, ISO 9001, and applicable ITAR requirements.
This position also plays an important role in employee development through coaching, training, performance feedback, conflict resolution, and day-to-day leadership on the manufacturing floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the daily activities of Team Leads and associated production employees supporting complex electromechanical assemblies, subassemblies, wiring and cable assemblies, control panels, box builds, and full-system integration.
- Coordinate production resources and manage production schedule according to customer demand, material availability, priorities, and any other changing manufacturing requirements.
- Ownership of Production Build Plan, driving schedules based upon material availability and other influencing factors. Working closely with Materials team and Program Management on pull-in and push-out requests.
- Conduct daily production meetings to communicate priorities, customer requirements, safety concerns, quality issues, risks, and schedule expectations.
- Monitor production performance including schedule attainment, productivity, quality, rework, labor utilization, and on-time delivery.
- Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and respond quickly to barriers affecting employees, quality, material availability, workflow, or customer commitments.
- Ensure employees follow approved work instructions, drawings, manufacturing procedures, quality requirements, and configuration documentation.
- Reinforce workmanship and compliance requirements associated with IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class III and J-STD-001 Class III manufacturing environments.
- Partner with Quality, Engineering, Materials, Program Management, and other departments to resolve production issues and maintain manufacturing flow.
- Coach, mentor, and develop employees while providing timely performance feedback and recognizing strong performance.
- Address employee relations or performance concerns in partnership with Human Resources and site leadership.
- Support employee onboarding, cross-training, certification, and skills-development activities.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, AS9100D, ISO 9001:2015, ITAR, NIST 800-171, UL508A, customer requirements, and applicable manufacturing procedures.
- Support internal, customer, and third-party audits and maintain strong audit readiness within assigned production areas.
- Participate in root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement initiatives designed to improve safety, quality, productivity, and delivery.
- Review and maintain employee timekeeping and attendance records in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain accurate production documentation and ensure procedural and configuration requirements are followed.
- Adjust staffing and priorities as business requirements and production flow change.
- Perform other responsibilities or support additional manufacturing areas as business needs require.
Requirements
Citizenship Requirement- ITAR Regulations require all employees be a US Citizen, US Permanent Resident, Political Asylee, or Refugee. We can not sponsor Visas.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory, production leadership, or Team Lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading employees in a hands-on production environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage production priorities, staffing, workflow, and changing customer requirements.
- Strong leadership, coaching, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions, manufacturing documentation, drawings, procedures, and production schedules.
- Working knowledge of quality systems and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Moderate computer proficiency and experience working with ERP, production, timekeeping, or manufacturing systems.
- Efficiency working with Excel tools such as pivot tables to merge and optimize data from numerous sources for production build scheduling,
- Ability to communicate effectively across Production, Quality, Engineering, Materials, Program Management, and site leadership.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English in order to interpret work instructions, technical documentation, quality requirements, and safety procedures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical degree, or equivalent manufacturing leadership training.
- Experience within aerospace, defense, electronics manufacturing services (EMS), electromechanical manufacturing, industrial controls, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership experience involving electromechanical assembly, box build, wire and cable assembly, harnesses, control panels, or systems integration.
- Experience working with Infor Visual ERP system.
- Familiarity with AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or J-STD-001 workmanship requirements, particularly Class III manufacturing.
- Experience working in an ITAR-controlled manufacturing environment.
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, 5S, root-cause analysis, CAPA/corrective action, or other continuous-improvement methodologies.
- Experience supporting customer, regulatory, or quality-system audits.
- Previous experience developing Team Leads or other front-line manufacturing employees.
Compensation- The Production Supervisor role is an Exempt position with an annual salary range of $70,000-$80,000/annually. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as education, years of relevant experience, and certifications.
