Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer II provides technical engineering support to machining, assembly and deburring operations, with a focus on developing and improving manufacturing processes for complex, high-precision components. This role translates engineering requirements into practical manufacturing solutions through fixture and workholding development, CAD models and drawings, work instructions, and process documentation.


Working closely with CNC Machinists, Deburring, Engineering, CNC Programming and Quality, the Manufacturing Engineer II supports new product introduction and ongoing production, resolves manufacturing issues, implements engineering and process changes, and identifies opportunities to improve quality, cost and throughput. The role independently supports day-to-day manufacturing engineering requirements and contributes to the development and improvement of manufacturing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

Manufacturing Engineering & Process Support

  • Provide technical engineering support to machining, assembly and deburring operations.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing methods, work instructions, process documentation, and other technical information to support production requirements.
  • Develop CAD models, drawings, fixtures, workholding solutions, and other manufacturing aids.
  • Collaborate with CNC Programming and CNC Machinists to support machining strategies, workholding requirements, and manufacturability.
  • Support the implementation of engineering and process changes.

New Product Introduction & Production Support

  • Support new product introduction, first-time manufacturing, and ongoing production by developing practical manufacturing solutions.
  • Review engineering drawings, models, specifications, and customer requirements to support manufacturing planning.
  • Identify and resolve manufacturing issues in collaboration with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Support root cause and corrective action activities related to manufacturing processes and product non-conformances.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve quality, cost, throughput, and process effectiveness.
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation in accordance with AS9100 requirements and company procedures.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.

Requirements

 Technical Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of manufacturing engineering or related experience within a precision manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software; SolidWorks experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of machining principles, manufacturing processes, and workholding strategies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Experience developing manufacturing documentation, work instructions, fixtures, or process improvements.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with CNC programming or CAM software such as Mastercam is considered an asset.

Industry & Quality Knowledge

  • Experience in aerospace, space, or another high-precision manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 requirements and manufacturing documentation is preferred.
  • Experience in a complex, high-mix manufacturing environment is considered an asset.

Education & Professional Attributes

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical discipline; equivalent relevant education and experience will also be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop practical solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, sound technical judgment, and a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Pay Range:

The expected base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $90,000 CAD annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate's skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
