About the Role:
The inpatient Occupational Therapy services within the Community Health and Integrated Care (CHIC) portfolio is a dynamic team of occupational therapists and allied health assistants providing high-quality assessment and therapeutic intervention across a diverse patient population. The service manages patients with a range of conditions including neurological, orthopaedic, complex medical and frail aged.
CHIC services work collaboratively with patients, clients, and individuals, involving their carers and family, as well as other services within and external to CHS.
The Senior Occupational Therapist is a clinical leadership role responsible for the coordination and delivery of high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy services within a designated clinical area.
The role operates with limited supervision and exercises independent professional judgement in managing a complex clinical caseload. The Senior Occupational Therapist is accountable for prioritising and coordinating workflows, supporting service delivery, and contributing to team and service outcomes.
The position provides clinical leadership, supervision, and support to HP1/2 staff, Allied Health Assistants, and students, and plays a key role in fostering a positive learning culture.
The Senior Occupational Therapist contributes to service development, quality improvement initiatives, and implementation of evidence-based practice, and engages with multidisciplinary stakeholders to support safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
The Senior Occupational Therapist may participate in rotations between the Inpatient Occupational therapy service (including acute geriatrics at The Canberra Hospital and University of Canberra Hospital (UCH) Inpatient Rehabilitation wards), Brindabella Day and Ambulatory Rehabilitation Services (BDARS) and Transitional Therapy and Care Program (TTCP).This position will require you to work flexibly across services / locations.
