Senior Risk Analyst (RS)

Your New Role
In this contract until the 19 March 2027, you will partner with Member Domain business units to enable the operation and management of their risk, incident and controls profile in line with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework. You will support the delivery of first line activities across Member Domain business units and execute aspects of the Line 1 Risk & Controls program to mature the end-to-end control environment.
You will play a key role in driving risk and control management assessments, thematic and incident-related management and reviews, policy formulation and implementation, controls design advisory on strategic projects and profiling delivered risk. The outcomes of these activities will be communicated and presented to senior stakeholders through regular engagement and appropriate risk reporting and dashboards.
Key duties include but not limited to;
Ensure risk is managed in accordance with the Fund’s Risk Management Framework, including risk identification and management, risk profiling, risk assessment, risk reporting and incident management.
Execute the annual Risk and Controls Plan developed by the Risk Manager, including thematic reviews, controls testing, obligation reviews, control self-assessment validation and risk profile assessments.
Prepare and present useful management information and insights as part of regular risk discussions with business teams, identifying trends and helping to improve gaps as part of business risk uplift.
Manage the closure of incidents and support root cause and trend analysis"
Engage with key stakeholders across the Fund, including Senior Managers, to ensure the timely management and resolution of incidents.
Support reporting requirements for business unit leadership, the Executive team, Board Committees and the Board on relevant trends, performance, projects, risks, opportunities and challenges.
Execute key controls testing and control self-assessment validations, including design suitability and operating effectiveness testing where required.
Contribute to working group outcomes on key project and change initiatives from a risk and controls perspective, including testing operational readiness before go-live.
What You’ll Need
Hold an accreditation in Risk Management from a recognised body like Risk Management Institute of Australasia (RMIA) or Governance Institute of Australia (GIA), or be willing to obtain one after joining AustralianSuper.
Demonstrated ability to understand and translate external regulatory requirements to shape business outcomes
5+ years’ experience in operations risk management, ideally working in the Financial Services or Insurance sector.
Strong knowledge of operations, risk and compliance frameworks, as well as incident management practices.
Ability to translate complex and technical information into relatable terms and concepts.
The ability to analyse trends across risks, controls and incidents, diagnose problems and recommend actions that address underlying root causes.
Excellent oral and written communication and data presentation skills.
Ability to influence and develop and maintain high-quality interpersonal relationships with stakeholders at all levels, both within and outside the Fund.
Experience working autonomously, setting and managing conflicting priorities and meeting specified timeframes.
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline are desirable.
