About the Role

Description

POSITION SUMMARY

MedPro Systems is seeking a contract Full Stack Engineer to support MedProID, our core healthcare professional (HCP) identity and database platform, and DLS, a companion desktop application used by our internal data operations team. This is a maintenance-and-enhancement role on an established, revenue-critical legacy system. It is not a greenfield build and is not centered on MedPro’s newer React / FastAPI / PostgreSQL stack.

MedProID is MedPro’s customer- and internal-facing web application, built on an Oracle database of roughly 36 million healthcare professional records that serves as the “golden record” MedPro’s products and customers rely on. DLS is a WPF desktop application used by data operations staff to quality-check state professional-license data loads before they post into MedProID. DLS is expected to be retired eventually in favor of a newer internal platform, but it remains in active daily use, and this role provides its steady, reliable support until that transition occurs.

The Full Stack Engineer will own changes end-to-end within MedProID’s and DLS’s existing technology, including Classic ASP and ASP.NET (VB.NET/C#), Oracle PL/SQL, and the supporting desktop and caching layers. This mid-level contract (staff augmentation) position is part of Full Stack Engineering – MedProID Legacy and reports to the Engineering Lead or Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MedProID Development and Support:

  • Design, build, and support MedProID features end-to-end, from the UI (Classic ASP, ASP.NET Web Forms/MVC, jQuery, Bootstrap) through the Oracle PL/SQL data layer.
  • Read, write, and troubleshoot Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures, packages, triggers, and views that power MedProID and DLS.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues across the full stack.

DLS Support:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance and enhancement support for the DLS WPF desktop application.
  • Ensure DLS remains reliable for daily data operations use until its planned replacement.

Database Standards and Change Control:

  • Follow MedPro’s established Oracle coding, schema-design, and unit-testing standards (utPLSQL) for all database changes.
  • Ship database changes as reviewed, per-issue deployment scripts under change control.
  • Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions with the MedProID product team.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) where helpful to work efficiently through legacy code; encouraged but not required.
  • Provide after-hours support as needed during releases or production escalations.

Requirements

 EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on work experience.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required (verified, hands-on production experience):

  • Classic ASP and ASP.NET (Web Forms and/or MVC) across the frontend and middle tier.
  • VB.NET (or C#) and VBScript.
  • JavaScript / jQuery.
  • Oracle PL/SQL, including the ability to read, write, and troubleshoot stored procedures, packages, and non-trivial queries.
  • Redis or a directly comparable in-memory caching layer.
  • A true full-stack mindset, with comfort owning a feature from UI through business logic to the database rather than staying in a single tier.

Preferred:

  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, or similar). General AI/ML engineering experience is welcome but does not substitute for the required qualifications.
  • Exposure to WPF desktop application development.
  • Exposure to React, Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, microservices, RabbitMQ, or Kafka, which is useful as MedPro modernizes but not required for this role.

YEARS’ EXPERIENCE

  • 3–5 years of hands-on production experience in the required technology stack.

TECHNOLOGY/SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE

Web / Presentation Tier (MedProID):

  • Classic ASP with VBScript (a large, still-active part of the application).
  • ASP.NET Web Forms (.aspx / .aspx.vb) and ASP.NET MVC 5 with Razor views.
  • VB.NET and C# on .NET Framework 4.5–4.6.2 (classic .NET Framework, not .NET Core / .NET 5+).
  • jQuery (1.11–3.x), Bootstrap (3.x–5.x), jQuery Validation, Modernizr, and AJAX Control Toolkit.
  • Embedded, customized Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) for dashboards and ad hoc reporting; Microsoft Report Viewer for fixed reports.
  • Oracle.ManagedDataAccess (ODP.NET) for data access.

Desktop Tier (DLS):

  • WPF (XAML / MVVM) using C# and/or VB.NET on .NET Framework.

Database Tier (MedProID Legacy):

  • Oracle 19c.
  • PL/SQL packages, procedures, triggers, views, materialized views, sequences, and scheduler jobs.
  • utPLSQL unit testing, enforced through pre-commit hooks and written standards.
  • Per-issue SQL*Plus deployment scripts under version control.

·Supporting Infrastructure:

  • Redis or a comparable in-memory caching layer.
  • Azure DevOps Pipelines for CI/CD and Git for source control.

REQUIRED TRAVEL10%Hybrid schedule with onsite attendance at the MedPro office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • The individual is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer screen and extensive reading. The individual in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc. The individual must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time.
