About The Company
Lehrhaus is an award winning not-for-profit Jewish tavern and house of learning, celebrating the vibrancy of Jewish life and learning. Inspired by the Frankfurt Lehrhaus of 1920s Germany, Lehrhaus is a Jewish tavern and house of learning where people of all backgrounds can grab a book from the shelf, meet with a hevruta (study partner), take an interesting class, and delight in amazing Jewish food and drink. We’re on a mission to make Jewish life more joyful, meaningful, and accessible through excellent hospitality and learning.
About the Role

Description

Lehrhaus: A Jewish Tavern & House of Learning featuring creative takes on food from around the Jewish world is looking for organized & inquisitive line cooks to join their team. Named one of the 50 best new restaurants in the country in 2023, Lehrhaus is a project unlike any other and one of the hottest additions to the Boston restaurant community. Check out the accolades from the front page of The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Eater Boston, and Thrillist, and come be a part of building this unique concept!

Full shifts are available across Sunday-Thursday nights and Friday daytime only.

Cooks of all backgrounds and levels of experience are encouraged to apply, and no working knowledge of Jewish flavors is needed. We just ask that you be passionate about storytelling through shared food experiences and eager to explore the incredibly diverse tastes, smells, and textures of the Jewish experience.

Day-to-day responsibilities include working alongside the Chef de Cuisine, Noah Clickstein, to prep their station, execute established recipes, maintain sanitation and hygiene practices, and contribute to a positive team environment.

About Lehrhaus

The world’s first Jewish Tavern and House of Learning, Lehrhaus is an entirely new kind of gathering space: a welcoming, stylish, smart, sociable neighborhood watering hole that brings people together. We’re dedicated to sharing Jewish culture through the wide-ranging flavors of the diaspora, culinary storytelling, and welcoming hospitality. Books, texts, and classes will be available to anyone interested in diving deeper into the traditional Jewish practice of text study. Lehrhaus will be a space for people of all backgrounds to experience Judaism through food & drink, ancient texts, poetry, literature, lively conversation, and more. Lehrhaus will offer a kosher, pescatarian, and dairy (no meat other than fish, no shellfish) menu to be as inclusive as possible to all diets.

Why work at Lehrhaus?

Our hybrid not-for-profit model allows us to offer a great collaborative workplace. We want to build a better, gentler, more sustainable, and inclusive version of the restaurant industry. We offer manageable hours, competitive wages, great benefits, and room to advance. Following the rhythms of the Jewish calendar, the team will enjoy many Friday nights, Saturday days, and Jewish holidays off.
