HANDY, Inc. is seeking a motivated, and dedicated Life Coach to join our team. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about empowering young people, fostering independence, and helping youth successfully transition into adulthood.
The Life Coach serves as a mentor, advocate, and resource for youth, providing individualized guidance and support in areas such as education, employment, housing, financial literacy, and independent living skills. Through hands-on coaching, case management, and community engagement, this position helps young people overcome challenges, achieve personal goals, and build a foundation for long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized coaching, mentorship, and case management services to a caseload of approximately 18–25 youth.
- Help youth develop essential independent living skills, including budgeting, problem-solving, and accessing community resources.
- Support educational advancement by assisting with academic planning, identifying challenges, and coordinating appropriate resources.
- Guide youth through employment readiness, career exploration, job searches, and interview preparation.
- Assist youth in securing and maintaining safe, affordable housing and navigating the transition to independent living.
- Assess individual needs, develop action plans, and coordinate referrals to internal and external support services.
- Provide guidance and support to youth and caregivers during challenging situations or times of crisis.
- Conduct home visits, school visits, and community-based activities to monitor progress and provide ongoing support.
- Maintain accurate and timely case notes, assessments, attendance records, and program documentation.
- Collaborate with community partners, service providers, families, and other stakeholders to support youth development.
- Transport youth to appointments, interviews, and program activities as needed.
- Actively participate in program activities, staff meetings, training sessions, and occasional evening or weekend events.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required, with relevant education or equivalent work experience in Social Work or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience working with youth.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, mentoring, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and documentation abilities.
- Ability to assess individual needs, develop action plans, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex or sensitive situations with professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to confidentiality, professional ethics, and HANDY's mission.
- Flexibility to work a 40-hour schedule that may include evenings and weekends.
- Ability to travel locally and transport youth as required.
