About the Role

Description

Position Title: Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape (SERE) Wing Developer

Reports to: Operations Manager

Location: Fairchild AFB, WA

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:30pm (Wing Developer shall be on-site and available no less than 40 hours a week (to include non-duty hours, weekends, and evenings).

Position Summary: Aldevra is currently seeking a qualified SERE Wing Developer to support The Department of the Air Force’s Survive, Evade, Resist, Escape (SERE) Specialist Training School in Fairchild AFB, WA. We are looking for someone who brings a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, clear communication, and a willingness to jump in where needed. This position is contingent upon contract award.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Inspire candidates through mentorship and structured development process. 
  • Provide coaching on nutrition, strength/conditioning training, and mental resiliency as well as set and monitor targeted fitness goals/expectations for the candidates.
  • Average Daily Student Load (ADSL) of approximately up to 45 SERE students depending on training requirements and unit operation cycles.
  • May use Government Owned Vehicles (GOVs) to support training activities (e.g. trail student formations, transport students with injuries, thermal injury prevention, etc.) 
  • Provide physical fitness coaching, human performance academics, remedial skills, and mental resiliency training to support students IAW approved Government lesson plans.
  • Provide continued physical and mental development, thus enabling the Air Force to effectively develop candidates to their fullest potential to meet increased SERE requirements.
  • Administer, when requested, the IFT to gauge where SERE Specialist Candidates are at physically and help develop plans to improve their physical fitness in prep for the rigors of the course and the career field
  • If requested, develop Strength and Conditioning, mentoring, combat skills, and troop leading Lesson Plans (LP’s).
  • When directed by the Government, use furnished lesson plans for all training evolutions.
  • Comply with technical training physical training and mentorship lesson plans and programming.
  • Shall track and account for: Monthly Activity and Student Development Reports IAW Table 1, which includes: Training and Development Goals, Performance Progression/Regression of each candidate, Projected Development, and Successful/Unsuccessful IFT Data
  • All other duties as assigned.

Mental and Physical Requirements:

This position is primarily based in a military training and human-performance environment that includes classroom, fitness, aquatic, and outdoor field settings. Work may occur in gyms, training facilities, pools, on roads or trails, and in varying weather and terrain conditions. The role involves frequent interaction with SERE candidates during physically and mentally demanding training activities, with an emphasis on coaching, supervision, safety, and student development.

  • Must possess the physical fitness, stamina, mobility, coordination, judgment, and mental resilience necessary to safely perform duties in a demanding military training environment.
  • Must be able to complete a 3-mile ruck march on level terrain with a 45-pound rucksack in under 45 minutes within one hour of notification and physically demonstrate required IFT events, exercises, strength and conditioning techniques, and other training activities.
  • The position requires frequent standing, walking, running, bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, and performing physical activities in indoor, outdoor, aquatic, and field environments, including varying terrain and weather conditions.
  • Must maintain sustained attention and situational awareness while supervising groups of up to approximately 45 students and be able to recognize signs of fatigue, injury, heat-related illness, psychological stress, unsafe conditions, or declining performance. 
  • Must be able to respond appropriately to emergencies consistent with required CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certifications.
  • Must demonstrate sound judgment, emotional stability, professionalism, and the ability to coach, motivate, and provide constructive feedback to students under physical and mental stress. 
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities, follow Government lesson plans and training standards, accurately assess and document student performance, and adapt to changing training requirements and operational schedules.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a graduate of the Air Force SV81A SERE Specialist Training Apprentice Course and have six (6) or more years of experience as a former SERE Specialist/Instructor.
  • Shall possess American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Must possess a Lifeguard Certification  
  • Shall possess Personal Trainer Certification from any accredited certification program listing.
  • (American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) ACSM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), or ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist (HFS)
  • American Council on Exercise (ACE) Certified Medical Exercise Specialist (ACE-CMES), or Personal Trainer (ACE-CPT)
  • National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) Certified Personal Trainer (NSCACPT), or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), or Tactical Strength and Conditioning-Facilitator (TSAC-F), and The Cooper Institute (CI)
  • CrossFit ‘certifications’ do not qualify as a certification substitute.
  • Must maintain their personal fitness to a standard to where, within an hour of notification, a 3-mile ruck march on level terrain wearing a 45-lb ruck sack in under 45 minutes can be completed. 
  • Must be able to explain and physically demonstrate proper techniques and exercises at all Initial Fitness Test and Development events, including in a field setting.
  • Must possess the ability to explain and physically demonstrate all points of performance for exercises included in the IFT
  • Have a proficient understanding and working knowledge of e-mail, voice mail, video conferencing and text messaging to perform duties
  • Valid Real-ID state-issued driver's license
  • Excellent and accurate written communication
  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems; online calendars and cloud systems; intermediate to advanced skills Microsoft office products required
  • Excellent attention to detail; accurate data entry

  • Able to multi-task efficiently and accurately, focusing on quality

Pay Range: $75k-$90k a year, based on experience and qualifications.
