Restoration & Monitoring Program Technician

Description
The Restoration & Monitoring Technician supports the implementation and monitoring of habitat restoration and weed removal projects.
Essential Duties:
- Perform on the ground restoration activities, including planting and weed removal.
- Safely operate tools and equipment, including mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, and other equipment as assigned.
- Safely operate Tribal vehicles to and from work sites.
- Safely handle and apply herbicides in accordance with applicable regulations and Tribal policies.
- Monitor and maintain active and completed planting and weed removal projects.
- Assist with vegetation, water quality, and other scientific monitoring activities.
- Assist with organizing and implementing volunteer events, including occasional weekend events.
- Maintain regular email communication with managers and team members..
Additional Duties:
- Participation in staff meetings and occasional trainings, conferences, or events.

Requirements
- Must be proficient with general office equipment and basic computer programs, including Microsoft.
- Outlook, Word, and Excel. Managing email correspondence at least once per workday is expected.
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather conditions and rough terrain.
- Experience safely operating mowers and power tools.
- Ability to safely operate Tribal vehicles.
- Ability and willingness to safely handle and apply herbicides in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Ability to identify common native plants and noxious weeds.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to follow directions, complete tasks in a timely manner, and maintain accountability.
Education & Experience:
Education Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
Experience:
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in Habitat Restoration, noxious weed management, environmental research, land management or a related field is required. Experience in agriculture or landscaping may be considered as a substitute on an individual basis.
- Experience maintaining and troubleshooting small engines and power tools preferred.
- Experience collecting and managing scientific data preferred.
- Coursework involving ecology or natural resource management preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
- Current pesticide applicator’s license preferred
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a thorough pre-employment background investigation.
- Must agree to be subject to the Tribe's Controlled Substance and Alcohol Testing Policy to include pre-employment screening.

Additional Information:
- Compensation will be determined based on experience and starts at $27.21 per hour
- This position is a full-time position and employment is at will.
