About the Opportunity
Join us as a Cook aboard the Spirit of Migloo, where every service unfolds against one of the world’s most iconic backdrops. You’ll prepare and present high-quality dishes for lunch, dinner and private charters, helping turn each cruise into a memorable guest experience.
Working under the guidance of the Chef, you’ll support smooth end-to-end kitchen operations, contribute to baking & frying, and help create memorable dining experiences in a fast-paced marine environment. This role may be rostered across any of the seven days of the week, including weekends and public holidays, with shifts of up to 12 hours during peak season between 8:30 am and 11:00 pm.
About You
You’re a hands-on, enthusiastic cook who takes pride in great food, clean workspaces and consistent presentation. You communicate clearly, notice the details and bring a friendly, proactive “can-do” attitude to every service. Comfortable working independently and as part of a close-knit brigade, you stay calm, flexible and safety-focused when the pace picks up.
You’ll also be ready for the practical demands of a working vessel: extended periods on your feet, compact and occasionally wet or slippery spaces, proximity to heating elements, repetitive culinary tasks, and lifting, moving and storing stock weighing up to 20 kg.
What You'll Be Doing
- Prepare and cook ingredients to recipe, delivering high-quality food on time and to a consistent standard.
- Support food presentation, baking and pastry preparation under supervision.
- Work with the kitchen brigade to set up and close down stations and keep service running smoothly.
- Identify and communicate allergens and dietary requirements, with clear labelling and careful food handling.
- Store food correctly, rotate stock and maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation.
- Complete cleaning and dishwashing duties when required.
- Follow marine emergency procedures, operational work instructions, HR requirements and WHS policies.
- Report hazards or incidents promptly and embrace new tasks or kitchen sections as operational needs change.
