About the Role
Job Description
- Take precise measurements of clients and garments to ensure proper fit and alignment
- Perform alterations and repairs on a variety of clothing items, including suits, dresses, trousers, and formal wear
- Consult with clients to understand their tailoring needs, preferences, and design specifications
- Operate sewing machines and utilize hand-sewing techniques to complete alterations with precision and attention to detail
- Maintain high quality standards throughout all tailoring work and conduct thorough quality checks before delivery
- Manage and organize inventory of fabrics, threads, buttons, zippers, and other tailoring materials
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining workmanship excellence and customer satisfaction
- Provide expert recommendations to clients regarding fabric selection, design modifications, and garment care
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with health and safety standards
- Keep detailed records of client measurements, alteration specifications, and completed projects for future reference
- Build and maintain positive client relationships through professional communication and exceptional service
- Stay current with tailoring trends, techniques, and industry best practices
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Tailor or in garment alteration and repair (minimum 3 years)
- Proficiency in operating industrial and domestic sewing machines
- Strong hand-sewing skills and knowledge of various stitching techniques
- Ability to take accurate measurements and interpret alteration specifications
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Knowledge of different fabric types, weights, and care requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong communication skills and ability to consult effectively with clients
- Organizational skills with the ability to maintain detailed client records
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks
