About the Role
Job Purpose:
Lead warehouse operations to deliver safe, accurate, efficient, and customer-focused receiving, storage, inventory control, value-added services, and dispatch activities in line with contractual and regulatory requirements.
Key Activities
- Plan, manage, and oversee daily warehouse operations, including inbound receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, value-added services, and outbound distribution activities.
- Develop and implement warehouse operational plans to optimize storage capacity, resource utilization, productivity, cost efficiency, and customer service performance.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and stock integrity through effective inventory control procedures, cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and loss prevention measures.
- Manage warehouse space, labor allocation, equipment utilization, shift scheduling, and operational capacity to ensure efficient and uninterrupted warehouse operations.
- Oversee warehouse operating expenses, including labor costs, equipment maintenance, subcontracted services, inventory losses, and other operational expenditures.
- Monitor warehousing revenue, operating margins, cost per unit, budget performance, and overall profitability to achieve approved financial and operational targets.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with customers and account management teams to support demand forecasting, service-level commitments, and timely issue resolution.
- Coordinate closely with transportation and freight forwarding teams to ensure seamless inbound and outbound logistics activities, shipment scheduling, and delivery execution.
- Manage external service providers and vendors responsible for equipment, maintenance, manpower, security, and facility-related services.
- Monitor vendor performance, contractual obligations, service quality, and operational costs to ensure reliable and cost-effective service delivery.
- Ensure compliance with applicable warehouse safety, security, quality, occupational health, product handling, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, quality control measures, and risk management practices across warehouse operations.
- Monitor customer service-level agreements (SLAs), order fulfillment accuracy, inventory discrepancies, claims, damages, and operational exceptions.
- Investigate warehouse incidents, inventory losses, service failures, and quality issues, implementing corrective and preventive actions to minimize recurrence.
- Optimize warehouse layouts, storage configurations, inventory slotting, material handling methods, and operational workflows to enhance productivity and space utilization.
- Establish and monitor workforce productivity standards, operational performance indicators, and capacity utilization to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Lead, supervise, coach, and develop warehouse supervisors and operational teams through effective workforce planning, performance management, training, and employee development.
- Maintain workforce discipline, operational readiness, and business continuity by ensuring appropriate staffing levels, effective shift coverage, and adherence to operational standards.
- Prepare and present accurate operational and management reports covering warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, capacity utilization, operating costs, safety performance, and operational risks.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to reduce operating costs, minimize inventory losses, improve fulfillment performance, and support sustainable business growth.
Job-Related Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in warehousing or distribution operations, including at least 3 years in a management role.
- Advanced knowledge of warehouse operations management, including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, order fulfillment, and outbound distribution.
- Strong expertise in inventory management, stock reconciliation, cycle counting, inventory accuracy, and loss prevention.
- Proven experience in warehouse capacity planning, storage optimization, labor allocation, shift management, and resource utilization.
- Advanced operational planning and execution capabilities, with the ability to manage complex warehouse activities and maintain service continuity.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety, occupational health, security, quality assurance, and applicable regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in managing warehouse equipment, material handling operations, facility services, and third-party service providers.
- Strong financial and commercial awareness, including warehouse budgeting, operating cost management, cost-per-unit analysis, and profitability monitoring.
- Proven ability to manage customer service-level agreements (SLAs), order fulfillment performance, operational claims, and service exceptions.
- Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS), inventory control systems, operational reporting tools, and warehouse process optimization technologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret operational data, identify performance gaps, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Experience in warehouse layout optimization, inventory slotting, workflow improvement, labor productivity standards, and material handling efficiency.
- Strong vendor and stakeholder management skills, including service provider coordination, contract performance monitoring, and operational issue resolution.
- Proven leadership and team management capabilities, including supervising warehouse teams, workforce planning, employee coaching, and performance development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with customers, transportation teams, freight forwarding teams, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
- Strong organizational, decision-making, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment.
- Advanced capabilities in operational excellence, safety and quality management, and strategic warehouse planning.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, process standardization, cost optimization, and customer satisfaction.
- Professional certifications in Warehouse Management, Lean Six Sigma, Occupational Safety, or Supply Chain Management are preferred.
