About the Role

Description

Do meaningful work, earn up to $480 a month in bonuses, and be appreciated for it.

At Alternative Wellness Services (AWS), we believe the people who show up for clients every day deserve to be recognized, rewarded and heard.

Already a care coordinator or case manager?
You know this work. Now do it somewhere that rewards it. Earn up to $480 a month in bonuses on top of your hourly pay for going above and beyond, manage your own caseload with flexibility, and join a team where your experience shapes how we work with professional growth opportunities.

New to the field?
If you've studied psychology, social work, human services or counseling, or worked as a mental health worker, behavioral health technician, community support worker, recovery coach, peer support specialist, residential counselor or direct support professional, you already have the heart for this work. We'll teach you the rest.

What you'll do

This is an in-person, community-based role. You'll spend your days face-to-face with clients at their homes, out in the community and at our Biddeford office, not behind a screen. You'll help people living with mental health or substance use challenges build stable, healthy lives. You're part coach, part advocate and part problem-solver.

  • Visit clients at home, in the community and at our office. No two days are the same.
  • Help clients find housing, keep their public benefits, and connect with health care and treatment.
  • Go with clients to appointments so they can speak up for what they need (mileage reimbursed).
  • Build care plans together and work alongside nurses, clinicians and fellow care coordinators.

Your effort gets noticed and rewarded

  • Monthly bonuses of up to $480, on top of your base pay, for going above and beyond
  • Bonus PTO you can earn through our incentive program
  • Employee of the Year award, which comes with an all-expenses-paid trip to Florida
  • A voice that counts.  At AWS, the people doing the work help shape it. Every role is essential to quality care, and staff ideas regularly turn into real changes in how we operate.

A team that invests in you

  • Paid training and weekly supervision from people who want you to succeed
  • Free support earning your MHRT/C certification through the Muskie School at USM
  • 3 Paid agency retreat days a year, that bring the whole team together to learn, connect and recharge
  • A real career path into clinical and supervisory roles

Benefits

  • FREE health insurance option, plus dental, vision, life, a 401(k), and short- and long-term disability
  • Flexible schedules (compressed or transitional hours) and generous PTO
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and mileage reimbursement

You qualify with one of these:

  • A bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, human services, sociology, counseling or a related field (new grads welcome!)
  • An associate degree in behavioral health or human services that is on the MHRT/C  preapproved list through Muskie.
  • Most Maine license (LSW, LMSW, LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, LADC, RN, etc.)
  • Completed MHRT/C coursework

You'll also need:

  • The ability to work in person in York County, including home and community visits
  • A valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle and auto insurance

New to the field or ready for a change, there's a place for you here. Apply today. We'll guide you through every step.

Pay is based on credentials, experience, internal equity and budget approval. The top of the range combines qualifications-based pay placement with the maximum incentive earnings available after onboarding. Incentive payments of up to $480 per month vary, must be earned monthly based on program eligibility criteria, and are not guaranteed. Additional incentive PTO is subject to program criteria. AWS is committed to a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace.

Requirements

  • MHRT-C or MHRT-C Provisional Certification: Current certification or eligibility for MHRT-C/p, with paid training available for qualified candidates.
