Job Description

Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

Advance pharmacist prescribing and evolving scopes of pharmacy practice through contemporary education, scholarship and sector engagement.

The School of Pharmacy is seeking a current or recent pharmacist prescriber with expertise in prescribing education, advanced clinical practice and workforce development. You will lead and shape education that supports safe, evidence-informed pharmacist prescribing and prepares pharmacists to practise effectively within evolving scopes and models of collaborative care.

While this appointment has a particular initial focus in this area, the successful candidate will contribute more broadly to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research, supervision and academic activities – particularly those with a focus on prescribing – across the School of Pharmacy according to their expertise and the evolving needs of the School.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop, deliver and evaluate postgraduate and undergraduate teaching relevant to prescribing and advanced pharmacy practice.
  • Contribute to learning in clinical assessment, clinical reasoning, pharmacotherapeutics, prescribing, monitoring, and collaborative care.
  • Develop authentic assessments of clinical and prescribing competence, including case-based, workplace-based and/or performance approaches.
  • Build relationships with prescribers, health services, regulators, Māori and Pacific health providers, professional organisations and interprofessional partners.
  • Support workplace supervisors and learners and contribute to curriculum currency, accreditation readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate courses or modules and contribute to curriculum review and continuous improvement.
  • Enhance student learning and engagement, responding constructively to student and peer review feedback
  • Develop and implement innovations in teaching and assessment, and evaluate their impact through peer review
  • Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate students, and develop research or scholarship in prescribing, medicines optimisation, advanced practice, implementation or workforce development.
  • Lead and contribute to service activities within the School, Faculty, and wider University community

This is a permanent, full-time position, though a part-time role may be considered depending on the successful candidate's needs. We are ideally seeking someone who can commence February 2027, however we can be flexible on the start date for the right person.

The appointment may be made at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level. Academic level and salary step will be determined by qualifications, experience and achievement against the University’s academic standards.

The salary range for this role is $99,788 - $145,741 depending on skills and experience.
