About the Role

Description

Join the team behind the independent forum for those who dare to think seriously about sea power. For more than 150 years, the U.S. Naval Institute has provided the open forum where naval professionals read, think, speak, and write. Today that mission reaches thought leaders and service members through Proceedings, USNI News, Naval Institute Press, conferences, the Naval Institute Foundation, and more.

We're looking for a Marketing Manager to lead and support marketing campaigns and initiatives for Naval Institute membership and the Naval Institute Foundation. You'll report to the Director of Marketing and join a newly chartered marketing team that supports every part of the organization. In addition, you’ll work collaboratively with the advertising and sponsorship team to facilitate and track advertising operations for the Institute as a whole.

What you’ll do

  • Work directly with the membership team to develop and run membership acquisition and renewal campaigns across email, digital, direct mail, and paid channels
  • Collaborate with the Foundation team to support and manage fundraising and appeal campaigns, including year-end giving
  • Use membership and campaign data to find trends, measure results, and recommend next steps
  • Report campaign performance to the Director of Marketing and department stakeholders
  • Manage advertising operations and coordination for the Institute's digital and print sponsorship programs
  • Track and report campaign performance metrics for partners
  • Leverage AI tools to automate campaigns and email drips, streamline branded design, and accelerate data reporting

Requirements

What you bring

  • 3+ years of professional marketing experience, ideally including email and social marketing and campaign management
  • Comfort with marketing data: building reports, reading results, and turning them into decisions
  • Experience managing several campaigns and deadlines at once
  • Familiarity working with AI tools to automate and accelerate marketing tasks
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach to work, taking initiative, bringing new ideas, and comfortably challenging the status quo
  • Preferred: experience in Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Salesforce NPSP, and/or Google Ad Manager
  • Preferred: familiarity with the sea services or national security community

Where you’ll work

This is a hybrid role with 3 days a week in our office on the historic grounds of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD and 2 days remote. Because our office is on a military installation, this role requires eligibility for base access.

Compensation and benefits

  • Annual bonus eligibility
  • 403(b) retirement plan with Roth option and 4% employer match
