AMINA India is a wholly owned subsidiary of AMINA Bank AG. AMINA India acts as a virtual extension of the bank supporting activities spanning trading & liquidity management, digital assets research, marketing, investment solutions, risk management, account management, mid/back-office, product management, technology & engineering, IT support, finance and human resources.
Your Mission (Should You Choose to Accept It)
We are looking for a hands-on Backend Lead Engineer to lead the team responsible for the Bank’s middle-layer components and services. You will combine strong backend engineering expertise with technical leadership and people responsibility, remaining actively involved in solution design, code reviews, development and complex engineering challenges.
Working closely with the Architecture team and collaborating with Product, Security and other engineering teams, you will turn architectural direction and business requirements into secure, resilient and maintainable solutions.
The role is particularly suited to someone with strong backend engineering experience and solution delivery focus combined with experience in payments, API gateway/API management and complex integration environments.
Your AMINA To-Do List
- Act as the technical engineering lead for the Bank's middle-layer services, APIs and integrations.
- Lead, coach and support the API and middle-layer backend engineering team, including capacity allocation, work planning and prioritisation across products, initiatives and technical priorities.
- Work closely with the Architecture team to translate target architecture and standards into pragmatic, high-quality implementations.
- Remain hands-on, participating in solution design, code reviews, development, prototyping, production support and resolution of complex technical issues.
- Drive engineering quality, reliability, security, observability and maintainability across the middle-layer estate.
- Provide technical leadership for API, integration, messaging and payment-related capabilities.
- Coordinate technical dependencies with digital channels, core banking, platform, data and third-party systems.
- Partner with product and other technology teams to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions, balancing delivery, risk and long-term sustainability.
- Act as a subject-matter expert for backend engineering, driving engineering standards and continuous improvement.
Your golden ticket to the AMINA team:
- Extensive backend engineering experience, including experience in a Lead, Principal, Architect or similar technical leadership role.
- Proven experience leading, coaching and developing an engineering team while remaining actively involved in software engineering and development.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Java or Kotlin, Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, messaging, integration patterns and distributed systems.
- Strong experience designing, developing and supporting scalable, resilient, secure and observable backend services and integrations.
- Good understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration, data consistency, transaction management, caching, failure handling and modern API patterns.
- Practical experience with automated testing, CI/CD, containers, Kubernetes, cloud platforms, monitoring and production support.
- Experience with API gateways/API management platforms and enterprise integration architectures.
- Experience with payment systems, payment processing and banking integrations is strongly preferred.
- Good knowledge of secure development practices, API security, OWASP guidance and engineering controls expected in regulated environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to interact effectively with architects, technical teams and business stakeholders at different seniority levels, constructively challenging and refining solutions where appropriate.
- Experience in banking, financial services, crypto or another regulated environment is strongly preferred.
