Job description
This is an exciting opportunity to join Castrol’s Motorsport Technology Team and help deliver specialist fuels and lubricants to some of the world’s leading motorsport programmes. You will combine practical operations work with day-to-day logistics support, helping the team blend, handle, prepare and dispatch products safely, accurately and on time.
Job Purpose:
You will work across the team’s blending, storage, stock management and dispatch activities. The role is designed as a flexible hybrid: on some days the priority will be practical blending, decanting, stock handling or shipment preparation; on others it will be completing dispatch documentation, coordinating routine collections and deliveries, or maintaining accurate logistics records.
You will carry out defined tasks using established procedures, systems and safety controls, with guidance and prioritisation provided by the Senior Logistics Coordinator and other experienced team members. You will be expected to manage your assigned workload, recognise issues or deviations from expected outcomes, and promptly escalate matters requiring changes to priorities, supplier intervention or specialist judgement.
This is a hands-on technician position, working primarily within established procedures and with training, guidance and prioritisation from more experienced colleagues. It is accountable for the safe, accurate and timely completion of assigned tasks and records. You will join a collaborative team supporting high-profile global motorsport programmes and gain practical experience across specialist product manufacture, laboratory operations, inventory control and international race logistics. The varied nature of the role offers a strong foundation for someone who is motivated to learn, build technical and operational capability, and develop a career within Castrol.
Responsibilities:
Core Accountabilities:
- Deliver safe and reliable operations through commitment to Castrol’s HSSE standards and Code of Conduct
- Work flexibly across operational and logistics activities, moving between practical product-handling tasks and logistics support as programme priorities require.
- Maintain accurate records and task status using team systems, digital workboards and operational processes.
- Follow defined procedures and safety controls, identifying issues and escalating risks that could impact delivery, compliance or quality.
Technician Operations:
- Undertake small-scale blending of specialist motorsport lubricants and other fluids in accordance with technologist’s instructions, local operating procedures and safe working practices.
- Carry out routine operational activities including decanting, labelling, packing, sample preparation, submission of samples for testing, cleaning and preparation of equipment and work areas.
- Prepare products and materials for dispatch, checking quantities, packaging, labels and accompanying information before release.
- Contribute to good laboratory, blendshop, storage and housekeeping standards, including routine equipment checks, calibration support, consumables management and reporting of defects.
- Support receipt and storage of incoming raw materials and products, including booking-in, identification, segregation, stock control and access to current safety documentation.
Logistics Operations:
- Complete routine dispatch paperwork, arrange approved shipments and maintain accurate logistics records.
- Place and track routine orders for Castrol commercial products, escalating delays, shortages or discrepancies.
- When required, prepare shipment documentation for race, test and factory deliveries, liaise with logistics providers, and escalate non-routine requirements to the Logistics Coordinator.
- Liaise with site Goods In/Out teams on routine bookings, collections and documentation queries.
- Maintain inventory records, complete stock checks and highlight shortages, damage or inconsistencies.
- Complete defined compliance and documentation checks, escalating uncertainty or non-conformance to the Logistics Coordinator.
- Resolve routine logistics issues using established procedures, escalating matters requiring supplier intervention, reprioritisation or specialist judgement.
What do we want to see from you!
Essential:
- Good written and spoken English, with the ability to complete records and instructions accurately.
- Good general computer skills, including confidence using Microsoft applications and the ability to learn new digital systems.
- A practical, hands-on approach and willingness to learn laboratory, blendshop, warehouse and logistics activities through training.
- Strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to following instructions, procedures and safety controls.
- Ability to organise assigned tasks, manage routine priorities and reliably complete work to agreed deadlines.
- Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach when working with colleagues, site teams and logistics providers.
- Confidence to raise questions, report errors or concerns, and escalate issues beyond the role’s training or authority.
- Self-motivation and reliability when completing routine, manual or repetitive work.
Desirable:
- Experience in a laboratory, workshop, manufacturing, warehouse, stores, dispatch or logistics environment.
- Experience of stock control, order processing, shipment records or other data-entry activities.
