About the Role

Job Description

Practice Manager (Full-Time) | Greencross Vets Chatswood | Sydney, NSW 🐾

Lead the Team. Nurture the Culture. Help Shape the Future of a Growing Clinic.

Are you a people-focused leader who loves developing teams, creating exceptional client experiences, and bringing out the best in those around you?

Greencross Vets Chatswood is looking for a passionate and capable Practice Manager to lead our team and support the continued growth of our well-established clinic.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Practice Manager, Head Veterinary Nurse, senior veterinary professional, or customer service leader who thrives on coaching teams, building culture, and creating an environment where both people and pets receive outstanding care.

We're particularly interested in candidates who are passionate about nurturing and developing teams. We can teach the veterinary side of things, but a genuine commitment to leadership, client experience, and helping people succeed is what will truly set you apart.

Why You'll Love Working at Chatswood

Greencross Chatswood is a busy and growing clinic conveniently co-located within Petbarn, creating a seamless pet care experience for our clients and a fantastic working relationship between both teams.

One of the things that makes our clinic special is the strong connection we have with our neighbouring Petbarn team. The relationship is genuinely collaborative, with strong cross-referral pathways and a shared focus on supporting local pet parents. Many new puppy owners first meet our team through Petbarn, creating wonderful opportunities to build lasting client relationships from the very beginning of a pet's journey.

The Petbarn team are incredibly supportive of the veterinary clinic, and together we've created a welcoming and connected pet care community.

You'll be leading a highly social and supportive team consisting of:

  • 4 Veterinarians (a mix of full-time and part-time)
  • 7 Veterinary Nurses (a mix of full-time and part-time)
  • A growing clinic team with opportunities to shape future reception support
  • Loyal clients and a strong local reputation

This is a team that genuinely enjoys spending time together, celebrates successes, supports each other during challenges, and values open communication and collaboration.

About the Role

As Practice Manager, you'll play a key leadership role in the success of the clinic, supporting both the team and business operations while ensuring exceptional care for patients and clients.

You'll work closely with the Veterinary Director and regional leadership team to create a positive culture, support staff development, and drive clinic performance.

This is a full-time position (38 hours per week) and we can offer flexibility in how those hours are worked:

  • Five shorter shifts per week, or
  • Four longer shifts per week

To maintain visibility with the team and provide leadership across all areas of the business, the successful candidate will be required to work at least one Saturday per month.

A Unique Opportunity

We're open-minded about backgrounds for this role.

While veterinary leadership experience is highly regarded, we'd also love to hear from candidates from customer-focused industries such as healthcare, dental, allied health, specialist medical practices, or other service-driven environments where exceptional team leadership and client experience are at the heart of what you do.

For candidates who don't come from a nursing background, there would be an expectation to spend approximately three days per week supporting the reception function, helping drive client experience standards, mentoring the team, and maintaining strong operational oversight.

If you know what exceptional customer and patient experiences look like and enjoy helping teams grow and succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Leading, mentoring, and supporting veterinary nurses, reception team members, and support staff
  • Nurturing a positive, engaged, and high-performing clinic culture
  • Coaching and developing team members to build capability and confidence
  • Managing rostering, workforce planning, and team development
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and performance management
  • Working closely with the Veterinary Director to support clinic success
  • Monitoring clinic performance and identifying opportunities for growth and improvement
  • Supporting workflow management and operational efficiency
  • Managing stock control, supplier relationships, and clinic administration
  • Ensuring exceptional client service standards are consistently delivered
  • Supporting compliance, workplace health and safety, and operational processes
  • Managing client feedback professionally and constructively
  • Contributing to strategic planning and continuous improvement initiatives

About You

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has previous Practice Manager, Head Veterinary Nurse, team leader, or leadership experience
  • Is passionate about developing people and helping teams thrive
  • Loves coaching, mentoring, and building capability in others
  • Understands what exceptional customer and patient experiences look like
  • Has strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Is confident managing teams and creating positive workplace cultures
  • Demonstrates excellent organisational and time-management abilities
  • Is commercially minded and understands operational performance drivers
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment
  • Leads with positivity, accountability, empathy, and professionalism

Veterinary industry experience is highly regarded; however, we are also open to leaders from industries such as dental, medical, allied health, retail, or other customer-focused environments who can bring strong people leadership and service excellence to the role.

Most importantly, you're someone who enjoys helping people succeed and creating an environment where both clients and team members feel supported.
