Are you someone who notices the details others miss? Do you enjoy bringing people, information, and moving pieces together to keep a project on track? If you’re an exceptional communicator, natural problem solver, skilled multitasker, and highly organized, we’d love to meet you.

Mercer Zimmerman is looking for an Inside Sales / Project Management professional to join our Wichita, KS team. In this role, you’ll help guide lighting projects from order through completion, working closely with customers, contractors, manufacturers, sales professionals, and our internal teams to deliver an exceptional experience.

Mercer Zimmerman is the Midwest’s largest lighting manufacturer representative agency, with offices in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, and Iowa. We partner with clients on construction projects of all sizes to deliver exceptional lighting solutions from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. Our mission is simple: create value for our clients through trust, inspiration, and service.

What you’ll be doing

  • Manage new project orders from electrical distributors, reviewing orders against quotations, ensuring accurate order entry, and providing tracking and updates throughout the process.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for order-related questions, including product availability, pricing, shipping dates, and issue resolution.
  • Take ownership of the execution of large and complex lighting projects from order through closeout.
  • Become the go-to resource for your projects by reviewing construction documents, researching project requirements, and ensuring specifications and details are addressed.
  • Partner closely with sales and quotations teams to resolve questions, discrepancies, and project changes.
  • Prepare and manage project submittals, coordinating revisions and resubmissions through final approval.
  • Lead preconstruction meetings with electrical contractors to establish expectations, confirm project details, and help ensure order accuracy.
  • Coordinate jobsite lighting start-up activities with Mercer Zimmerman’s service team.
  • Maintain clear, accurate project status reports so customers and internal teams stay informed.
  • Manage project closeout, including warranty information, operation and maintenance manuals, and confirmation of final billing.

What we’re looking for

  • Project management experience, ideally within construction, lighting, electrical, or a related industry.
  • Construction industry knowledge and familiarity with construction documents are strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing timelines.
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to anticipate needs and solve problems.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with both internal teams and external customers.
  • Confidence leading meetings and collaborating through challenges, changes, and competing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar software is a plus.
  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for learning new products, systems, and technology.
  • Flexibility and a team-first mindset, with a willingness to step in, learn new things, and take on new responsibilities as business and team needs evolve.
