  • The role partners with product and platform owners to ensure our application portfolio is fit for purpose, secure, cost effective, and future ready, and that delivery conforms to Enterprise Architecture governance via the Enterprise Design Authority (EDA) and Architecture Review Board (ARB).

  • Supporting the development of specific solutions working with solution architects to ensure they are technically fit for purpose - translating functional and technical (including non-functional) requirements into an effective architecture and design that will ensure the applications we use are optimised and efficient.

  • Analyse business requirements and work with stakeholders and other architects to ensure alignment between expectations and technology capability.

  • Assist with determining which technologies are most appropriate to deliver a solution and work closely with developers to ensure proper implementation – and within the agreed enterprise architecture, support the definition and design of technology solutions to assist the business in meeting their business objectives.

  • Act as the subject matter expert within specialist applications, interpreting industry best practice and other broad policy for Rotork – guiding the design and development of integrated IT solutions that meet current and future business needs across the application technology stack.

  • Understand the interim and long-term roadmap for the applications and use the architecture governance processes to manage changes, including understanding the development of applications and ensuring relevant architectures, strategies, polices, standards and practice are considered.

  • Maintain standards, policies and guidelines for use internally and by external software providers.

  • Develop and maintain target and transitional application architectures, blueprints, and guardrails for your assigned domains, ensuring alignment with EA strategy, principles, and roadmaps; present designs to the EA Design Authority/EAB and secure decisions.

  • Drive portfolio rationalisation and simplification, partnering with EA peers to reduce redundancy and technical debt through proactively identifying obsolescence, end of life, and consolidation opportunities; raising recommendations into EDA/ARB with options and recommendations.

  • Embed security by design and data protection into solutions; evidence controls and NFRs in designs and ensure changes follow Rotork’s governance and CAB routes where required.

  • Create reference architectures, patterns, and reusable building blocks to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency across squads and vendors.

  • Maintain portfolio truth in LeanIX (applications, interfaces, technologies, providers, risks), linked to initiatives and roadmaps for transparency and prioritisation.

  • Maintain LeanIX portfolio accuracy >95% for applications ensuring key data such as lifecycle and risk positions are visible and used in planning.

  • Produce designs aligned to principles and standards for initiatives and solutions to be reviewed and approved through EDA and handed to delivery for implementation.
