About the Role

Company Description

Established in 1978, Oakridge is an iconic Yarra Valley pioneer and one of Australia’s most decorated cool-climate producers. Operating under the guiding philosophy of “Hand Picked, Hand Crafted,” our winemaking focuses on minimal intervention, texture, and uncompromising site transparency.

From the ancient sandy clay loams of Coldstream to the red volcanic slopes of the Upper Yarra, we craft wines that articulate distinct subregions down to individual blocks and single-row variations. Consistently recognised at the pinnacle of Australian wine, including multiple Winery of the Year honours and the 2025 Australian Wine of the Year, Oakridge delivers benchmark cool-climate winemaking backed by authentic, story-led cellar door service.

Job Description

Cellar Door Attendant - Oakridge

About the role

The primary focus of this role is delivering exceptional, wine-focused cellar door service. With a 4.7-star rating across our guest reviews, our team takes immense pride in offering warm, benchmark hospitality. We operate as a high-performing, engaged, and genuinely collaborative team where everyone contributes across floor service, preparation, pack-down, and guest storytelling.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Detailed Tastings & Brand Ambassadorship: Hosting immersive, highly informed tasting experiences that articulate the full Oakridge journey. You will guide guests through our regional history, minimal-intervention philosophy, and site-focused viticulture, sharing how granular factors such as subregional climates, varied soil profiles, individual vineyard blocks, tree lines, and micro-sites directly shape each wine in the glass.
  • Guest Experience: Greeting guests, managing reservations, and delivering attentive customer service consistent with our 4.7-star review standard.
  • Sales & Club Conversion: Guiding retail wine sales and introducing guests to our wine club through authentic, education-led conversations.
  • Team Collaboration & Cellar Door Operations: Working closely with colleagues across daily prep, tidying, cleaning, stock movements, replenishing displays, and cash/POS handling.
  • Site Tours: Guiding engaging, informative tours across the property as required.

How Will You Be Rewarded?

  • A highly supportive, friendly, and high-performing team environment
  • Comprehensive on-the-job training, in-depth wine education, and ongoing professional development
  • Competitive remuneration package
  • Generous team discounts on Oakridge wines and cellar door products
  • Working alongside a passionate, wine-focused team in a world-class Yarra Valley setting

Qualifications

Now let’s talk about you:

  • Strong Team Commitment: A proven track record of working exceptionally well within a collaborative, fast-paced team where mutual support and shared responsibility are essential.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Genuine warmth, polish, and enthusiasm for hosting guests, comfortable presenting and engaging small and large groups in a tasting environment.
  • Wine Curiosity & Communication: A passion for wine and an appetite to learn and communicate intricate viticultural details, from broad regional identity to single-block and micro-site terroir (WSET Level 2 or equivalent experience is advantageous; on-site training is provided).
  • Required Licences & Logistics: A current Victorian RSA, a valid driver's licence, and reliable personal transport
  • Availability: Must have regular availability across weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) and public holidays, with a minimum commitment of 10 hours per week.
  • Operational Skills: Experience in front-of-house customer service roles; computer literacy with POS systems (Impos experience advantageous); and physical capability to handle wine stock and lift cartons up to 15kg.

If you are an energetic communicator who loves wine, team culture, and detailed storytelling, we would love to hear from you!
