Summary:
A Painter provides the labor, skill and knowledge in performing surface preparation for coating applications per job specifications. Preparation and applications of coatings per job specifications.
Essential Duties:
- Operation and maintenance of all applicable equipment.
- Evaluate surface preparation to assure accuracy and compliance to SSPC Codes.
- Apply coatings to wet mils necessary to achieve the dry mils required by the job specifications.
- Knowledge of different types of coatings and application methods.
- Use of grinders, chippers, sanders, and overhead cranes as needed.
- Read and layout work orders or receive instructions from supervisor regarding cleaning.
- Reading piece mark numbers.
- Need to know SSPC Codes.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical/Site Requirements:
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 45 pounds.
- Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
- Work up to a 12-hour shift in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.
- Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
- PPE footwear/prescription safety glasses or eye shields required.
