About The Company
Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration is the leading intergovernmental organization in the field of migration and is committed to the principle that humane and orderly migration benefits migrants and society. IOM works with its partners in the international community to assist in meeting the growing operational challenges of migration, advance understanding of migration issues, encourage social and economic development through migration and uphold the well-being and human rights of migrants. More people are on the move today than at any other time in recorded history: 1 billion people – comprising a seventh of humanity. A variety of elements – not least the information and communications revolutions – contribute to the movement of people on such a large scale. The forces driving migration as a priority issue are: climate change, natural and manmade catastrophes, conflict, the demographic trends of an ageing industrialized population, an exponentially expanding jobless youth population in the developing world and widening North–South social and economic disparities.

IOM is committed to fostering a respectful, inclusive and supportive workplace where all employees can thrive professionally and feel valued. By creating such an environment, IOM aims to better harness the full potential of migration and strengthen its support to people on the move.

Project Context and Scope

The International Organization for Migration’s (IOM) Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) is a highly adaptable system designed to track and monitor population mobility, displacement dynamics, and the evolving needs of affected populations. Since its official activation for the Syria context, DTM Syria plays a critical role in gathering, managing, and analysing primary data across all 14 Syrian governorates to guide evidence-based humanitarian aid, recovery tracking, and transition planning.

Following major political transitions, regional escalations, and complex cross-border flows, the displacement landscape within the Syrian Arab Republic remains highly fluid. DTM Syria actively monitors internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees, and cross-border arrivals to provide the humanitarian community, UN agencies, and clusters with granular, area-based analysis through toolsets like Mobility Tracking, Event Tracking, and the Communities of Return Index (CoRI).

Under the direct supervision of the DTM Coordinator, the Information Management (IM) Officer will be responsible for overseeing the complete data cycle. This includes optimizing data infrastructure, ensuring rigorous validation, and producing advanced analytical and spatial products to maintain an agile, secure, and collaborative information ecosystem.
