About the Role
Versana is looking for a highly motivated Technical Lead to guide our Application Development team's technical implementation of Versana's real-time syndicated loan platform, including its blockchain and digital-asset infrastructure. The platform delivers a streamlined interface that provides clients with secure, real-time access to loan data, analytics, and positions.
As Technical Lead, you'll work closely with seasoned engineers, product and project managers, and UX designers to drive the technical direction, ensure delivery excellence, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. You must have a strong technical foundation in full-stack engineering, including hands-on experience integrating blockchain and Web3 technologies into enterprise systems, along with a passion for scalable and secure design and a hands-on approach to mentorship and problem-solving.
You will play a pivotal role in shaping one of Versana's product verticals, leading the design and delivery of performant, secure, and intuitive applications, including blockchain-integrated capabilities, that set a new standard for the syndicated loan market.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Delivery
In collaboration with Architects, oversee the technical direction of a squad
Drive successful delivery of solutions, ensuring quality, performance, and scalability
Collaborate with Product and UX teams to translate client needs into high-impact, high-visibility solutions
Build test automation across the full stack of our software and enforce engineering best practices
Optimize application performance and reliability in a cloud environment
Implement blockchain integrations; node connectivity, transaction submission, event monitoring, wallet/custody interactions, and signing/approval workflows, using enterprise Java and Web3 libraries
Write, test, and deploy smart contracts (Solidity or equivalent) following established security practices; handle full transaction lifecycle; submission, confirmation, idempotency, and failure/reversal handling, with audit-friendly logging
Technical Leadership
Serve as the technical authority and primary point of contact for the squad
Guide architectural discussions, code reviews, and implementation decisions
Ensure adherence to coding standards, architectural principles, and security best practices
Identify and introduce new tools and frameworks to improve team efficiency and product quality
Establish and evolve the technical foundation and culture of the squad
Guide architectural and security decisions for the squad's blockchain integrations, partnering with security team on key-management and custody standards
Collaboration & Communication
Partner with Product Managers and Technical Project Managers to define scope, timelines, and priorities.
Communicate project status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders clearly and proactively.
Collaborate with other leads to ensure alignment across squads and technical domains.
Mentorship & Team Development
Provide day-to-day technical mentorship, unblock challenges, and foster a culture of continuous learning
Help onboard and support new engineers, ensuring consistent growth and high engagement
Collaborate with People Managers to identify development opportunities and provide performance feedback
Discover ways to increase team productivity and efficiency through improved processes and tooling
Mentor engineers on blockchain/Web3-specific concepts and integration patterns as part of ongoing team development
Must Have
BS or BA in Computer Science or related field
8+ years of full-stack development experience, with strong backend expertise (Java/Spring Boot)
Strong understanding of application architecture, design patterns, and performance optimization
Extensive hands-on experience owning and designing end to end solutions built on blockchain/DLT platforms (e.g., Ethereum, Solana, Hyperledger Besu, or Canton/Daml), including transaction lifecycle (gas, nonce, confirmations, finality) and event processing
Strong understanding of wallet/custody infrastructure, key-management patterns, and building audit-friendly, idempotent transaction flows in regulated or security-sensitive environments
Experience with frontend frameworks (React/Angular) using TypeScript/JavaScript
Proven experience leading technical projects or teams in an agile environment
Proficiency with REST APIs, and database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
Hands-on experience with Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD pipelines
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Curiosity and willingness to learn, teach, and grow within a collaborative team environment
Nice to Have
Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud computing platforms
Experience with end-to-end testing frameworks (Playwright, Selenium, Cucumber, etc.)
Exposure to advanced UI frameworks, charting libraries, or design systems (AG Grid, D3, etc.)
Familiarity with accessibility and responsive design principles
Experience in financial services, particularly syndicated loans or leveraged finance
Track record of building scalable enterprise applications within a regulated domain
Familiarity with compliance/security frameworks (SOC2, NIST, ISO 27001) or experience coordinating third-party security audits / custody-provider integrations (e.g., Fireblocks, Turnkey)
Experience with event-streaming platforms (Kafka or equivalent) for transaction/ledger event publishing
We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
