About the Role
As a Simulation Engineering Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will play a crucial role in the development and enhancement of simulation models used to test our robotic systems under various scenarios. This internship will provide you with a comprehensive view of the simulation process in robotic systems development, from conceptual modeling to the detailed analysis of results. All interns will work directly alongside full-time engineers on real, engaging, and impactful projects, providing tangible value to Lunar Outpost products. This internship offers a truly end-to-end experience that promotes collaboration at every stage of autonomous robotic development.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain simulation models for robotic systems using mathematical models
Develop tools for analyzing simulation model performance and accuracy
Conduct simulations to test the performance and reliability of robotic mechanisms and software algorithms
Collaborate with software and hardware engineers to gather requirements and verify model accuracy
Analyze simulation data to identify and resolve discrepancies in system behavior
Document simulation procedures, results, and insights to guide future designs and improvements
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field
Experience with robotics simulation tools and software, including ROS2 and MATLAB/Simulink
Experience in control theory and state estimation
Experience with programming languages such as C++, C#, or Python
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Can effectively demonstrate communication and interpersonal skills, while also excelling in collaboration and teamwork in an interdisciplinary environment
Exhibits strong organizational and time management skills under pressure and in stressful situations
Fueled by a passion for space exploration and the boundless possibilities beyond our world
Early-June (June 7, 2027) to late August (August 20, 2027). Start and end dates are flexible with the intern's school schedule. This is an in-person internship; Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM in Golden, Colorado.
